Another day setting sail from Gisborne, hoping today’s catch will be enough to feed my family for one more week. At the tavern, I heard rumors of large schools of fish to the east; one of the neighborhood fishermen came back yesterday with his boat overflowing. With the last of my savings, I filled the tank and managed to set up a simple netting system, hoping this journey will allow me to return with nets full and avoid the sea for at least three weeks. They say the waters there are treacherous, and it’s not uncommon for cyclones to form and storms to break out. But, as they say around here, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
